前世的曼珠沙华姐妹并称神界双姝，曼珠（白澜 饰）在历劫之时，遭遇反噬，沙华（刘语乔 饰）为救曼珠，从而遭遇天劫，曼珠不顾身体反噬之痛，前去解救沙华，沙华见不得姐姐受难，决定牺牲自己，神明被两人姐妹之情感动，决定在彼岸花开之际给她们一次相见的机会，但却约定在相见之间“不得相认”。曼珠等了又等，终于在人间见到了失忆的沙华，但此时的沙华已是凡人，名叫浅夏（刘语乔 饰），司职净邪司总捕头。 而就在曼珠出现后，在繁华的广陵城中流传着一个传说，城中有一个地方，名为幻镜阁，其主人是一位神秘的红衣女子，相传只要你有想实现的愿望，她都可以帮你完成，实现愿望的代价，便是用你这“一念”与她交换，而浅夏也因调查命案实践被卷入其中，与美艳的老板娘曼珠展开查案之旅。
10 years after Martin Shaw turned the beloved Inspector Gently novels into a hit BBC One TV series, filming has begun on two final feature-length episodes. Back in action one last time will be Shaw as the eponymous inspector, who is tested like never before just as he winds down his career. In the first of two films - Gently Liberated - the inspector and his trusted allies Bacchus (Lee Ingleby) and Coles (Lisa McGrillis) are brought in to investigate a possible "miscarriage of justice". However, their final case in Gently and the New Age has the Met's new Special Investigations Squad boss Lister bringing in the inspector to investigate high levels of corruption within the force. Both of these mini-movies will be set in 1970, as the women's liberation movement and the rise of the Conservative Party bring clashing values to Britain.
浮华的都市，光怪陆离的现象层出不穷：为了保险金，丈夫杀害了妻子；难改赌博恶习，牛郎拍下客人的性爱录像借此敲诈勒索；遭受继父侵犯，少女却不敢声张……处于弱势地位的人们声诉无门，又咽不下气看着对方逍遥，怨气便由此积聚。 这时，一名名为“怨屋”（木下あゆ美饰）的神秘女子就会出现，她表示会为求助者消除怨气，让痛恨的他/她消失、抹杀其社会性存在、甚至杀人都可以，事成后则根据报复的程度收取相应的酬金，保证没有后顾之忧。在怨屋的精心设计下，每一起案件都未留下任何痕迹。殊不知，这早就引起了一直追踪的寄木警官（きたろう饰）的怀疑。
